Notes and Images

The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox spans over 15 years, with some flashbacks dating back to her childhood. We are privy to Amanda’s journey over the years, through her trials and tribulations.  The idea was to use the wardrobe to relay emotions and atmospheres. During our numerous meetings with our Showrunner, Director, Production designer, and Cinematographer, we sought ways to heighten emotions through the use of colors and textures in our wardrobe, sets, lenses, and props.

For example, we had several scenes in the courtroom where the judges and lawyers were in black robes and white collars, and the bright colours worn by our cast contrasted with that oppressive atmosphere. I had several of Amanda’s most distinguishable pieces recreated. One of the key looks we recreated was the outfit Amanda wore at Via della Pergola on November 2nd 2007, the day her life changed forever. She is in the same outfit in a number of scenes, on screen her clothes go through a visual change during the first two episodes, starting off nice and clean, then becoming more and more worn in as the hours drag on and Amanda’s emotional state takes a downward spiral.  Several of the other pieces include, and not only, the white peasant blouse with floral embroidery that she wore on 16 January 2009,   the green coat that she wore on December 5th 2009, the day she was wrongfully convicted, the baby blue hooded sweater dated 16 November 2010.

We also recreated Amanda and Chris’s entire wedding in episode 8. That was an incredible amount of fun, as the clothes were so over the top and fantastical. It was a huge team effort between our hair, makeup, wardrobe, and prop departments to recreate many of the key moments in the series.
